The Company
Our client is a respected cultural institution with a national footprint and a deep commitment to inclusion, learning, and service. With a team of over 500 employees, they operate in a purpose-driven environment that supports people to thrive professionally while contributing to something bigger than themselves.
Their workforce values flexibility, collaboration, and meaningful work and they’re currently looking to strengthen their payroll function with a capable and customer-focused advisor.
The Leaders
You will report directly to the Senior Payroll Advisor and work closely with a supportive, value-aligned leader who fosters trust, initiative, and calm in the team. The team itself is small and welcoming, with a strong emphasis on doing good work together, supporting each other, and growing through collaboration.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on payroll processing role where you’ll take ownership of fortnightly payroll using Aurion, provide timely support to employees, and ensure conditions under APS legislation and enterprise agreements are applied accurately.
You’ll also have the chance to contribute to payroll audits, participate in process improvement projects, and partner with the broader P&C team providing you with the opportunity to further grow and increase in your knowledge.
Specific responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
- Processing salaries, allowances, superannuation, workers comp and leave in Aurion
- Interpreting and applying employment conditions under APS legislation and EA frameworks
- Managing employee enquiries via the shared payroll inbox
- Supporting payroll audits and analysis
- Contributing to process and systems improvements
- Providing guidance to staff using the Aurion Employee Self-Service portal
About You
To be successful, you offer a strong mix of technical capability and personal integrity. With experience in federal government payroll (Aurion experience is highly regarded, but not essential), you’re detail-driven, curious, and confident navigating complex queries with professionalism and care. You value collaboration, bring a respectful and supportive team approach.
The Process
The recruitment process will provide you with an opportunity to meet key stakeholders, ask questions and really understand the team and business. As such, the interview process will include an interview at Levyl, and one in-person interview with the Payroll Manager and a member of the P&C Team. The preferred candidate will be required to undergo background and reference checks prior to offer.
The salary on offer is commensurate with experience and within the target range of $85K to $95K + superannuation. The business offers genuine flexibility work arrangements to fit into your work life balance!
