About the role

Yarra Ranges Council is looking for an experienced Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nurse to lead our Sleep & Settling Initiative. You will manage the daily responsibilities of the MCH Sleep and Settling Program in line with the guidelines of both the Program and the Maternal and Child Health Service.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement Sleep and Settling education groups for families within the Yarra Ranges municipality.

Provide outreach sessions to support families with sleep and settling issues.

Collect and collate data related to the Sleep and Settling Initiative.

Develop effective partnerships with the program co-facilitator and the entire MCH team.

This is a part-time position, 3 Days (22.8 hours) per week. Hourly rate from $58.02 per hour, plus laundry allowance and superannuation.

Support work life balance with:

20 weeks paid primary caregiver leave and 6 weeks for secondary caregivers.

Menstrual and menopause leave options.

Assisted reproduction and prenatal leave options.

Cultural and ceremonial leave.

What you’ll bring to our team:

Current Registered Nurse (Division 1) and Midwife on the Register of Practitioners of AHPRA, engaged in maternal and child health work within a local government council/shire.

Post Graduate diploma or degree in Child & Family Health Nursing enabling practice as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse in Victoria.

Extensive experience in providing the Key Age and Stage Framework program, including flexible components to cater to additional needs of the child and family support.

Early identification of health concerns and early intervention with referral to appropriate medical, allied health, community, and social supports.

Skills in the delivery of group programs to families from diverse including CALD families, same-sex families, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds families, families with disability, premature or unwell babies.

An understanding of the early months of a newborn’s life and the issues and concerns regarding sleep & settling for new parents.
