About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Drought Resilience Program Coordinator to join our team in a fully grant funded fixed-term part-time role managing the delivery of approved projects across the Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan local government areas (LGAs). This role will manage and coordinate external consultants to deliver projects that have been identified in a Regional Drought Resilience Plan that was developed by Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan Shire Councils. The aim of the Plan is to build capability and empower regional communities to plan and act early to reduce and respond to drought risks.

The fixed-term contract will run from May 2025 to October 2025 and will offer sixteen (16) hours per week that are able to be worked flexibly and remotely.

In this role your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing independent external consultants to deliver projects to scope, budget and agreed timeframes.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders across Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan Shires, including relevant state government departments.
  • Undertake associated reporting requirements including grant reporting.
  • Develop a Volunteer Management Plan for drought events across three (3) Shires.
  • Provide specialist administration support including report writing, setting and managing meetings.

About You

To excel in this role you will bring:

  • Demonstrated organisational, time management and prioritisation skills with a proven ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and administration.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent standard of IT literacy and advanced computer and software skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly and remotely (if required).
  • Highspeed and reliable internet connection to host Teams meetings.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience coordinating and/or project managing consultants/contractors.
  • Tertiary qualifications in project management, communications, public relations, business, agribusiness or other related disciplines.
  • Experience in writing corporate documents.
  • Knowledge of of Local Government or State and Federal Government departments and operations.
  • Knowledge of subject matter to be delivered.

This role offers a competitive hourly rate of $80 - $95 per hour (depending on skills and experience) plus super and salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay.
