The Client & Role:

We're currently working with an Australia utilities organization who are looking to employ an Injury Management and Workcover Claims Specialist on a contract term until the end of June 2025. In this role you will be responsible for the management of early intervention injuries, end to end WorkCover claims and leading the return to work for both work-related and non-work-related injuries, illnesses, and conditions. The rate on offer is on a hourly basis of up to $85 per hour inclusive of super and cost. The client operates a hybrid work model of two days per week on-site from their docklands office.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of early intervention injuries, end to end claims and non-work-related injuries
• Support the development of return-to-work plans and adhere to our return-to-work obligations as a self-insurer
• Ensure all case management legislative requirements are met in accordance with the relevant legislation
• Facilitate proactive early intervention strategies and end-to-end WorkCover claims management strategies to maximise outcomes for the claimant and organisation.
• Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Workers Compensation Claims Management and Injury Case Management.
• Support the analysis of WorkCover and Injury Management data to improve reporting and knowledge sharing across the organisation.
• Coordinate and implement the internal Health Assessment Program, including pre-employment medicals, periodic health evaluations, and fitness-for-duty assessments.
• Develop and maintain health assessment protocols to ensure they meet current best practices and legal requirements.
• Liaise with medical providers to schedule and manage health assessments and follow-up care as necessary.
• Analyse health assessment data to identify trends and areas for improvement in employee health and wellbeing.
• Provide support, management, and administration of the WorkCover system (SOLV).
• Be up to date with changes to legislation and the impact on our processes and business operations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.

Required Skills & Specialisms:

• Significant experience and an established working knowledge of worker's compensation, injury management and return to work.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex worker compensation claims and providing technical advice to management/stakeholders.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience undertaking complex work under limited supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form robust and influential relationships.
• Sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with stakeholders for specialist advice and to share learnings, as appropriate.
• Tertiary qualification in allied health, safety, human resources or related field preferable.
• Experience in a complex operational / self-insurance and or business partnering environment highly advantageous.
