Desert Peoples Centre has a newly created position for a Project Officer to join our Asset and Maintenance Team. The role incorporates a mixture of administrative and hands on responsibilities working with a small team responsible for day-to-day Operational and Project Management duties to support the Project Manager to undertake a new project Mobile Training Units (MTUs). Key Responsibilities will include:
Providing administration support for MTU project, and facilities team
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure facilities and special projects achieve success
Assist in the coordination of asset management and project timelines liaising with subcontractors and RTOs
Maintaining administrative documentation and records with high accuracy
Organizing and assisting in meetings, action plans, and reporting
Proactively identifying risks and opportunities to keep projects on track
Assist the team with minor HR and training support
Providing administrative and operational support to the MTU Project Manager
Ideally, we are looking for someone who exhibits the following core capabilities:
Experience in facilities, educational, and general project management, or high-level administration background
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ServiceM8 or similar scheduling software (preferred but not essential)
and has the following qualifications or certifications:
Office administration, Project Management, or educational background
C Class Driver’s License (LR preferred, HR highly regarded)
White Card (or ability to obtain)
Ochre Card (WWC)
The MTU Project is a new initiative that is designed to support both the capacity of local RTOs to access remote communities with appropriate training facilities in the form of Mobile Training Units. These will provide support to existing RTOs to deliver training within remote communities and other remote homelands to either support or supply access to training facilities. These assets are designed to be utilized by RTOs and other training providers using a hire agreement booking system. This position will support the administration and maintenance of the MTUs to ensure they are available for use in a timely and efficient process by training providers. The position will provide support to on-going team requirements for administrative and general asset and facilities support duties.
Desert Peoples Centre (DPC) is located at the Desert Knowledge Precinct and plays an important part in providing Aboriginal people with access to education, training, and services to improve livelihood outcomes. DPC has a long history of working in collaboration with other like organizations including Centre for Appropriate Technology (CfAT) and Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE) who provide a space for working directly with Aboriginal people, and Indigenous communities to provide contemporary learning, skills, and practical solutions to living in remote desert regions of Central Australia.
