Join Our Team at EON Aboriginal Foundation: Make a Difference Across the Northern Territory

EON Aboriginal Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people in remote communities across the Northern Territory and Western Australia. In partnership with remote Aboriginal communities and using edible gardens as a tool, we deliver programs focused on health, nutrition, education and training that help shift community attitudes toward healthy living.

Through our EON Thriving Communities Program, we empower communities with sustainable food sources, nutrition education, and gardening skills. We currently partner with 23 communities across both the Northern Territory and Western Australia, with active engagement happening with more communities.

Be part of a passionate team creating long-term change in remote communities.

Job Opportunity: Operations Manager (Northern Territory)

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to lead and manage the delivery of the EON Thriving Communities Program in remote Aboriginal communities across the Northern Territory. While this role is ideally based in Katherine, relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. We will also consider applicants based in Darwin and Alice Springs. Extensive travel across the Northern Territory will be required.

As the Operations Manager, you will provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction to the program, ensuring its success and alignment with our mission. You will work closely with the WA Operations Manager, Executive Team, NT Project Managers, and community stakeholders to drive the program's objectives, ensuring consistent, high quality delivery of the program in the communities we work alongside. You will also be a key source of expertise in edible gardens and community-based health and nutrition, supporting your team and guiding program implementation with confidence and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the EON Thriving Communities Program in remote communities across the NT.

Lead, mentor and support a small team based across the Northern Territory (in Katherine and Alice Springs).

Develop and maintain strong relationships with school principals, teachers, community leaders and other key local contacts, to ensure the program continues to meet community expectations and needs.

Work closely with the CEO and other senior managers to ensure program delivery is aligned with EON’s strategic goals and values.

Help map future growth and conduct thorough due diligence assessment of potential new communities.

Manage the program budget, ensuring costs are aligned with funding agreements and plans.

Provide regular communication and reporting to the wider EON team and other stakeholders.

Build and maintain strategic partnerships and network with potential funders to support program growth and sustainability.

At EON Aboriginal Foundation, we are committed to increasing the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our workforce. We strongly encourage applications from First Nations people of Australia. The ideal candidate will bring:

Strong people management skills with a minimum five years’ experience in a senior management role.

Deep understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture, with demonstrated experience working alongside remote Aboriginal communities.

Extensive knowledge of the Northern Territory region, including local networks, communities, and key stakeholders.

Passionate and experienced in health/nutrition, cooking and gardening, with the confidence to guide others in these areas.

Adaptable and solutions-focused, with the ability to work through challenges in remote and cross-cultural settings.

Able to build strong, trusting relationships through honest communication and follow-through.

Ability to travel frequently to remote communities.

Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, write reports, and oversee multiple projects.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other relevant software.

What We Offer:

Full-time position with competitive salary and benefits.
