About the Role

The Digital and Information Services branch delivers agile and transformative information and technology, enabling council to be a leader in providing innovative and sustainable services to its communities.

The IT Project Management Team is responsible for the design and implementation of Council’s computing security infrastructure, ensuring IT security and risk strategies are aligned to Council’s needs combined with researching industry trends and emerging technologies and standards.

The Solutions Architect role will proactively lead / support Solution Architecture activities within the IT Project Management Office that design, describe, and manage technical solutions to align with business goals and requirements, effectively bridging the gap between business needs and technical implementation.

Primarily this role will;

· Provide solution architectural and strategic guidance to projects being delivered by the IT Project Management Office liaising with the Enterprise Architecture team during all phases of new solutions implementation and changes to existing systems.

· Capture and apply concepts of business goals, objectives and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams and business processes and understand their importance to enterprise architecture.

· Develop and ensure compliance with DIS guidelines, including alignment to organisational enterprise architecture. Define the principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.

· Support the development of transition state and capability roadmaps associated with Project related solution acquisitions, implementations and upgrades ensuring they are aligned with the enterprise’s objectives.

· Create artefacts for managing SCC’s portfolio ‘to-be’ solutions to enable and drive targeted business decision making and outcomes.

· Highly desirable for candidate to have experience with Human Capital Management and Enterprise Asset Management solutions.

This position has recently relocated to Sunshine Coast City Hall, based in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.

About you

As a Solutions Architect you will hold professional certifications in computer science, IT, software engineering and/or substantial relevant experience in Solution Architecture, systems analysis and solution design preferably in a large, diverse organisation or government entity.

Industry experience of the following is considered also required:

· Strong research, analytical problem solving and evaluation skills with the capacity to examine complex problems and develop innovative strategies for their resolution to a diverse client base.

· Strong business acumen including understanding of business operations and strategies and the ability to prepare professional business communication such.

· Demonstrated ability with relevant business modelling techniques such as Business Capability Modelling, Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN), and Business Model Canvas, as well as workflow modelling and enterprise application integration. Understanding of UX (user experience) and its importance.

· Strong time management and organisation skills to manage significant or multiple projects and complex cases, manage multiple competing priorities, a variety of stakeholder expectations and influencing and achieving preferred business outcomes.

· Strong leadership and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with particular emphasis in the areas of building effective relationships, consultation, negotiation, conflict resolution and assertiveness in order to resolve issues and meet changing organisational needs.
