Location - Bolwara Transitional Centre, Emu Plains
Employment Type - Casual
Salary - $41.45 per hour
Your role
Corrective Services are currently seeking casual Transitional Centre Workers to work across a rotating roster at the Emu Plains Centre. As this is an on call, casual role you must be willing to work when required and work the following shifts as needed.
- B Watch: 10:30pm - 6:30am
- A Watch: 6:30am - 2:30pm
- Escort Shift: 10:30am - 6:30pm
- C Watch 2:30pm - 10:30pm
What you'll do
As part of this role, the successful applicants must be willing to deliver a high level of support and assistance to female residents within the centres including by providing clear and accessible channels of communication, counselling, negotiation and assessment services on a range of family, social and legal issues to contribute to the transition from correctional to post-release living.
Within this role you will be escorting residents to necessary appointments, job interviews, assisting residents find employment, supporting residents in re-developing social and housekeeping skills, maintain strict confidentiality in record keeping relating to admission and discharge of residents, develop professional relationship with the residents and promote an environment of mutual trust, empathy and understanding, assist with the development of case plans and engage with community Stakeholders.
This a female specific role, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are encouraged to apply!
What we're looking for
- Current First Aid Certificate or the willingness to obtain one prior to the commencement of employment.
- Must be willing to undertake shift work in a rotating roster, be willing to work on a rotating 24-hour 7 day roster
- A Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain as required
- Successful completion of the Security Awareness and Management of Female offenders training course.
- Current driver's licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle
- Formal post-secondary educational qualifications and experience in welfare related work or social science environment, or significant experience gained by working in that area is highly desirable

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce reoffending and create safer communities. We house remand and sentenced inmates in correctional centres and supervise offenders serving orders in the community.
CSNSW provides reports and advice to courts and releasing/parole authorities and assesses offenders in the community and in custody for relevant interventions to reduce their risks of reoffending. CSNSW works in partnership with other government and non-government justice and human services agencies to support victims, facilitate restorative justice and promote reintegration.
