We are currently recruiting for Casual Male Disability Support Workers who are passionate, positive, caring and highly committed individuals to be part of our Newcastle team.

We believe in empowering people with disabilities. We support them to be inclusive in their community, assist with their independence, work towards their NDIS goals as well as be there for them with their day-to-day requirements.

Please note the position is for the Newcastle/Hunter Region.

We service participants from Salt Ash, Warners Bay, Maitland & everywhere in between.

Key responsibilities and Duties:

Assisting participants to perform important daily activities both in home & in the community.

Facilitating daily personal hygiene and care tasks if required.

Assisting with coordinating and facilitating community access.

Providing emotional support, encouragement & mentoring.

Supporting and encouraging informal network and relationships.

Facilitating participant communication and enhancing their choice and decision-making processes.

Empowering participants with learning, skill development and employment.

Transporting participants to medical and other appointments, and social activities as required.

Upholding the rights, independence and dignity of all participants, ensuring confidentiality and their choices are recognized at all times.

We are currently recruiting for male staff members as per the request of our participants.

To be eligible for this position, you will need:

NDIS worker check

National Police Clearance

Current First Aid

NDIS Worker Orientation Module

Have a Driver’s License, use your own car and have full comprehensive roadworthy vehicle insurance

An understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Previous experience of being a support worker is desirable but not necessary

Experience in the mental health industry will be highly desirable but not necessary

Hourly rate will depend on qualifications &/or experience

This position may require you to work a variety of shifts, including day shifts, afternoon and active night shifts
