Industry Exchange

The Industry Exchange team plays a key role in connecting Curtin University students with industry opportunities, focusing on developing students’ skills and advancing their careers. The team has already facilitated over 100 student internships and continues to expand these opportunities. With over 60,000 students enrolled at Curtin, the team is dedicated to growing these opportunities and strengthening connections between students, academics, and industry. Their core mission is to solve industry challenges by offering valuable internship experiences that benefit both students and employers.

About the Role:

Join Curtin University’s Industry Exchange team as a Project Administrator! In this dynamic role, you’ll provide high-level administrative and operational support to help deliver impactful student-industry projects. You’ll play a key role in the planning, coordination, tracking and reporting of project deliverables—ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish.

This is your chance to make a meaningful impact by connecting high-achieving Curtin students with real-world industry challenges across sectors like health, science, and engineering. You’ll work closely with students, staff and external stakeholders to scope opportunities, monitor progress, and support the delivery of successful outcomes.

With every project, you’ll build valuable experience in project operations, expand your professional network, and gain exposure to a wide range of industries—laying the foundation for a future career in project management. If you're detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about supporting students and solving real-world problems, we’d love to hear from you.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with industry partners to translate real-world challenges and innovative solutions into clearly defined project scopes.
  • Engage with schools and faculties across Curtin University to identify and connect with our most talented students.
  • Liaise with project teams to support data collection, milestone tracking, and verification of project activities.
  • Coordinate and prepare regular and ad hoc project reports, including status updates, end-of-month reports, expenditure forecasts, and accruals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project information in Curtin’s CRM system.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader team to support a variety of projects and functions across the unit.

We are looking for:

We’re seeking someone with keen attention to detail and a positive attitude—excited to learn, grow, and take the next step in their career, as well as:

  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of key project deliverables while confidently managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative mindset, with a proven ability to work well in a team—showing respect for different perspectives, supporting colleagues, accepting direction, and contributing to shared goals.
  • Brings well-developed research and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and adapt to evolving project needs.
  • Has experience in customer-facing roles, with the ability to anticipate challenges, de-escalate situations, and provide excellent service.
  • A qualification (or working towards one) in Commerce, Science, Engineering or a related technical field is highly regarded, but not essential.

Role Requirements:

  1. As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
  2. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction
