Regulation
The ERA is the independent regulator of electricity, gas, water and rail in Western Australia. Our purpose is to benefit all Western Australians by promoting strong economic outcomes through effective regulation and decision making. We strive to make sure current and future consumers pay no more than necessary for safe and reliable utilities.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to supporting and building a culturally diverse workforce and workplace culture that values diversity and inclusion.
We welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, young people, people of diverse sexualities and genders, people with disabilities, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
About the Role
The ERA are seeking bright, passionate, curious, and motivated individuals to join our Licensing and Customer Protection team.
One position is a full time permanent position, and the second position is full time fixed term for 9 months with the possibility of extension/permanency.
These positions are a part of a multi-disciplinary team that supports electricity, water and gas businesses to understand and comply with licence conditions. The team focuses on end-use consumers, for example by developing and implementing new entitlements for vulnerable customers, and by protecting customers from adverse billing and marketing practices.
In these positions you will independently undertake complex and sensitive regulatory projects. These include reviewing subsidiary legislation that provide protections for electricity, gas and water customers, as well as reviews of the licensing frameworks for those industries.
To be successful in these roles you will need to be able to interpret legislation and regulation to assess licence applications and customer protection instruments, such as customer contracts and financial hardship policies, and review ERA regulatory guidelines.
These positions would suit someone with consumer or regulatory policy experience who is cognisant of the benefits and costs of new regulation and is able to weigh up conflicting stakeholder views. Experience in electricity, water or gas regulation is not essential.
Applicants need to be collaborative and detail-focused, able to think analytically and have effective verbal and written communication skills. These positions require concise and timely briefings to the ERA’s executive and Governing Body on regulatory projects and emerging risks. The successful applicant will be responsible for building and maintaining professional relationships with industry stakeholders, government agencies and interested parties.
A full description of the roles and organisational context are included in the Job Description Form located on the JobsWA ad.
