Award winning ECEC Service seeking experienced Early Childhood Teacher – experience in additional/special needs and additional languages an advantage!

Position – Full Time

Responsibilities:

Part of a passionate team of educators and teachers, the responsibility of the Early Childhood teacher is to lead the educational programming for our pre-primary aged children, ensuring experiences are inclusive of numeracy, literacy, music, creative arts, and fine/gross motor development. Always inclusive in our approach, and adaptable to the individual needs of all children, ensuring social, emotional, intellectual and physical development are supported in everything we do.

Main Tasks:

  • Planning and structuring learning in both indoor and outdoor environments using a variety of materials and equipment to facilitate children's development.
  • provide a variety of experiences and activities to develop motor skills, cooperative social skills, confidence and understanding as independent learners.
  • promote language development through storytelling, role play, songs, rhymes and informal discussions held individually and within groups.
  • observe children to evaluate their learning progress and to detect signs of ill health, emotional disturbance or other factors inhibiting their learning and to assist in overcoming these barriers.
  • observe nutritional health, welfare and safety needs of all children while engaging in learning and also independent play.
  • collaborate with parents as primary carers to support the needs of each child.
  • Attend parent interviews, staff meetings, development opportunities and other events as required by your role and to develop professional skills.
  • participate in community and family support programs as appropriate.
  • mentor and supervise student teachers on placements as well as educator’s working towards their early childhood teaching qualifications.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) as well as a sound knowledge of current laws and regulations relating to childcare, in addition to Child Safe Standards and other governing practices when working with children.
  • Develop and implement individual support plans for children with diagnosed or identified additional needs in a supportive and inclusive manner.
  • Support the professional and personal development of other educators to ensure an inclusive and holistic approach to learning within the service.
  • Share best practice with other leaders and team.

Desirable:

  • Possess demonstrated leadership skills - coaching team members and being accountable to service goals & objectives.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written & verbal.
  • The ability to work alongside a diverse team of skilled educators while also contributing to the ongoing professional development of the team.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role within the sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in Early Childhood Education or pre-primary.
  • Additional/Special needs experience and additional languages an advantage due to the nature of our diverse community and needs of the service and our children.
