iCare Staffing is excited to be teaming up with Julia Gillard Community College to connect an experienced Education Support Worker with a school where every day makes a difference for young people.

With a maximum capacity of 75 students (approximately 53 currently enrolled) Julia Gillard Community College is looking for an Education Support Worker to join their team.

Julia Gillard Community College (JGCC) is a small, independent school, founded in 2024 and delivering flexible education options to students aged 15 - 19 years old. JGCC provides a safe and inclusive learning environment for young people who may have disengaged (or are at risk of disengaging) from mainstream education.

This newly created position will play a critical role in assisting students with their learning and development. Working under the direction of the classroom teacher and leadership team, the Education Support Worker provides tailored support to students with diverse educational needs, including those with behavioural and learning challenges. The position involves supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, promoting their academic success, social development, and overall wellbeing.

Your new role will include:

Assisting classroom teaching by supporting individual students and small groups using effective learning strategies and supporting Individual Education Plans (IEP's)

Helping students with assessments and supporting maximum engagement with classroom activities

Supporting the preparation of meals for students and assisting with student transport when required

To be considered for the position you will need:

A qualification in education support or equivalent

Demonstrated experience in working with, and supporting young people (15 - 19 years old) who have special educational needs, including developing and implementing strategies for support

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

A commitment to ongoing professional learning and the ability to apply new knowledge to support student well-being and educational progress

Computer literacy

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers, creating a supportive and inclusive environment

Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to child safety and protection practices, including the ability to recognise and report any concerns in line with mandatory reporting obligations.

Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a National Police check, Working with Children Check, International Police check (if required) and the right to work in Australia
