Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants as our goal is to strengthen spiritual, personal, social and emotional wellbeing of our trainees.

Applications close for this role on April 9.

The National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA), based at Ayers Rock Resort, is searching for a Youth Worker to live and work onsite at Yulara, NT which is 20 min drive from Uluru, one of Australia's most iconic and culturally significant landmarks.

The NITA residential program supports up to 80 trainees in dormitory-style accommodation whilst they complete their traineeship at Ayers Rock Resort. As a Youth Worker you will ensure that every trainee within our community feels a sense of connection, safety and pride, but most importantly feels at home during their trainee journey. Our team of wellbeing support workers seek to establish strong relationships with every trainee by providing a supportive and encouraging environment. This begins with recruitment and orientation into the program, through to the celebration of their achievements and successes at Graduation.

You are the heart of our team with your primary purpose to be attentive to the wellbeing needs of trainees and further to be a role model in taking pride and responsibility in the upkeep of residential facilities and amenities. We are looking for an enthusiastic team member dedicated to promoting the values of strong work ethic whilst also seeking daily opportunities to strengthen the spiritual, personal, social and emotional wellbeing of trainees.

About the role

The key duties of the role include:

  • Relational & practical support: coordinate practical support (for example, transport to medical appointments) to assist trainees in meeting their needs.
  • Facility management: undertake ‘daily tasks’ to enhance and maintain the presentation and operation of the residential facility.
  • Activities delivery: design, plan and deliver culturally safe activities to enhance the social, emotional, spiritual and cultural wellbeing of trainees.
  • Mentoring: provide mentoring to support trainees to successfully complete their traineeship and achieve their personal and professional goals.

About you
You are passionate about supporting young adults to achieve their goals. You understand the unique and diverse strengths and challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, with a willingness and capacity to listen and learn. Experience in social and emotional support work is essential.
A minimum Cert III Community Services or Cert III Youth Work qualification is required for this role. Due to working with young adults, a working with vulnerable people check will need to be obtained before starting with us.

The Best Part
The highlight of being a Youth Worker in Yulara is the opportunity to truly connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, immerse yourself in the community and in local culture and use your skills to support our trainees to achieve their goal of completing their 12-month traineeship. Our resort offers a range of attractive incentives to make your employment experience with us even better, such as discounted accommodation, competitive pay, resort discounts, delicious on-shift meals, and a relocation assistance payment of up to $700. In addition, you'll have access to our staff pool, gym, and Residents Club. When you're off the clock, take advantage of your free time to explore the Red Centre and enjoy unique and fulfilling experiences in unforgettable locations.

We're Committed to Your Growth
We are dedicated to helping you advance in your career while working with us. We offer a variety of professional development opportunities and recognize high-achieving team members through performance incentives. Come join us on this exciting journey and be a part of something truly remarkable.

This isn't just a job. This is an experience that'll leave you with enough memories to last a lifetime.

  • A National Criminal History Check is a mandatory step in the recruitment process.
