About the role

Kneading Ruby, based in Wollongong CBD, is seeking an exceptional Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef and overseeing the day-to-day operations of our bustling kitchen. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise and passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences.

What you'll be doing

Assisting the Head Chef in planning, preparing and executing innovative and high-quality menu items

Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including staff supervision, workflow coordination and quality control

Collaborating with the kitchen team to develop and refine recipes, ensuring consistent execution and presentation

Maintaining strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards

Participating in menu development and testing new dishes and techniques

Providing leadership, mentoring and training to the kitchen team

Ensuring efficient inventory management and cost control

What we're looking for

Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior culinary role

Formal culinary training or a recognised qualification in the hospitality industry

Demonstrated expertise in a range of cooking techniques and cuisines

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team

Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail

Commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene

Passion for creating innovative and visually appealing dishes
