About the role
Job Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Development: Lead and support a dedicated team, providing guidance on physics and radiation safety while collaborating with the Clinical Director and Chief MRS on operational and professional matters.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships across SVHA, local health districts, universities, and professional bodies, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to enhance service standards and patient care.
- Quality & Compliance: Promote continuous quality improvement, ensuring adherence to professional standards, regulations, and policies, including managing radiation safety protocols, accreditation programs, and radiation management licenses.
- Training & Mentorship: Oversee the training of staff and students, including providing mentorship to the medical physics registrar, and supporting the professional development of the team through education and research activities.
- Safety & Risk Management: Champion the health and safety of staff and patients by ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards, overseeing radiation dose assessments, and preparing contingency plans for potential incidents.
About you
- Qualifications & Accreditation: A master's in medical physics (or equivalent) with current, eligible, or working towards accreditation with the Australian College of Physical Scientists & Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) in Nuclear Medicine, along with a valid radiation license with NSW EPA.
- Research & Expertise: A PhD in Medical Physics or strong experience in medical physics research is preferred, demonstrating a deep understanding of the field.
- Leadership & Change Management: Proven experience in leading and motivating teams, with the ability to implement change management principles and achieve measurable outcomes in a clinical environment.
- Clinical Experience: Prior clinical and operational experience in medical physics, particularly in Diagnostic Imaging Services within Nuclear Medicine, with a solid track record of delivering results.
- Problem-Solving & Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work autonomously or within a multidisciplinary team to solve complex problems and make informed decisions.
