We are seeking an experienced and motivated female support worker to support a lively and sociable 36-year-old woman with an intellectual disability living in Alexandra Hills. She is an active young lady who enjoys going to the gym, horse riding and many water sports including swimming, sailing, fishing, kayaking and jet skiing. She also has an emerging micro business making pet treats. Effervescent, empathetic and energetic, she is known as the “Enthusiastic Humanist” who teaches us all about the authentic and important things in life. She is currently seeking support to:

- Build friendships and lasting connections in her community
- Plan, organise and execute her daily activities
- Take care of herself, her home, and stay strong and health
The Role:
- Providing support with Daily Activities
- Promoting Independence
- Ensuring Safety and Well-being
- Prompting with Self Care / Personal Care
- Supervising household management
- Assistance with gym routines
- Attending appointments with chiropractor and exercise physiologist
- Attending local Park Run as volunteer
- Participate in promotion of microbusiness
- Participate in social events as a regular patron for dinner and dancing.
- Completion of in-home shift notes, dietary journal, time sheets and any records of behaviour

Key Qualities:

- Experience working with behaviour support plans
- Intuitive ability to recognize when to motivate, when to actively listen and when to calm
- Able to engage in reflective practice
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- A prompt response rate to communications
- Able to use digital technologies and work online
- Must be reliable, punctual and dependable
Shifts:
- Weekdays - 5:30am – 2pm
- Weekdays - 2pm – 9pm
- Friday evenings 5pm – 9 / 10pm (for social outings)
- Saturdays - 5:30am – 2pm (fortnightly)
- Saturdays - 2pm – 9pm (fortnightly)
- Flexibility / availability to pick up extra shifts when other support staff are on leave
Pay Rate:
- $41.00 per hour Monday to Friday (higher on weekends) reviewed after probationary period (2-3 months)

You will receive training in behaviour support and ongoing professional development in ethical support practices. If you would like to deepen your understanding of ethical, person-centered practice, we have a structured work environment within a supportive team and professional development provided. The team is supported by a team leader, and we provide ongoing professional development and training, hold online and in-person team meetings.
Essential requirements:
- 3 years’ experience in disability support work or study in social justice and or human services
- Willing to complete in-service training and professional development
- Open driver’s license AND fully insured vehicle
- Current Police Check (National Police Certificate) (or willing to obtain)
- Employment as Casual employee with Superannuation, PAYG and car allowance
- Willing to commit to the role long term
- Live within reasonable travelling distance
- Commitment to the role of 12 months minimum
