About us:
The Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) is the medical specialty training organisation for ophthalmologists in Australia and New Zealand. Our vision is one of excellence and equity in eye care. We are leaders in collaborative eye care, committed to setting and improving standards, providing lifelong education, promoting research and innovation, and advocating on behalf of patients, their communities, and our membership.

About ANZEF:
As the philanthropic arm of RANZCO, The Australian and New Zealand Eye Foundation (ANZEF) is dedicated to improving eye health equity across the Asia-Pacific by fundraising for and supporting programs, scholarships, and partnerships. We work with First Nations, Māori, and Pacific communities, as well as those in rural and remote areas where access to quality eye care is most limited. Our partnerships, education, advocacy, and research projects help prevent avoidable blindness and vision loss, ensuring that sight-saving care reaches those with the most crucial needs.

Our vision for reconciliation:

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO)’s vision for reconciliation is an Australia where equal health outcomes and equitable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are achieved through the principles of mutual respect and self-determination and the places we live, learn, work and play are culturally safe and enriched by all. In the context of our organisation this represents equitable eye health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and communities, and an inclusive and diverse workplace that is culturally safe.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP):

The RAP commits RANZCO to activities that seek to achieve equity in access and health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; continue to build collaborative partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the health sector; build on our existing commitment to increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ophthalmologists in Australia; and will improve and enhance our organisation’s cultural safety practices.
