Our utilities sector client has an initial 12-month contract (2 x 12 month extensions expected) opportunity for a Program Manager / Director to lead and drive the simplification, operational improvement and delivery of the project, program and portfolio management improvement program of work.

Simplifying Project Systems & Processes

Delivering streamlined, fit-for-purpose P3M systems and processes that are easy to use and tailored to real business needs. This includes introducing right-sized project governance and transitioning from Project Online to a modern solution.

Creating a Central Hub for Project Professionals

Building a user-friendly, online 'one-stop shop' for all P3M framework documentation-making it easier than ever for project professionals to access the tools and guidance they need.

Improving Performance Reporting

Implementing smart systems that support centralised data management, visualisation, and reporting. These tools will help drive better decision-making through high-quality performance measures and actionable insights.

Driving Integration & Engagement

Promoting a culture where every function understands its role in delivering successful project outcomes. Teams will be supported and engaged throughout the journey, with clear guidance on how to get the most out of new tools and resources.

Key Accountabilities

• Support the Sponsor in ensuring the successful delivery of a complex program of work that aligns with organisational strategy and priorities.
• Work closely with program sponsors, project managers, and cross-functional teams to define and manage project scope, deliverables, budgets, resources, and timelines.
• Lead specific projects within the broader program when required, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with overall program objectives.
• Track program performance and provide regular, accurate reporting to Executive General Managers, General Management, and key stakeholders to maintain visibility and accountability.
• Identify and manage risks, issues, and interdependencies proactively, ensuring timely resolution or escalation to minimise impact on outcomes.
• Foster collaboration, clear communication, and alignment across project teams and stakeholders, while promoting best practice in change management and continuous improvement.

About you

With a transformation background and a skillset that includes strengths in improving governance, compliance, risk, operational frameworks and delivery outcomes within an organisation, you will also have the following skills and experience.

• Immaculate communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to work with and influence change with C-Level Executives and Senior Leaders of an organisation
• Well-educated, preferably to MBA level, coupled with industry relevant certifications
• 10+ years program management experience
• Strong budgeting and financial management skillset
• Demonstrated background in Program Manager / Director positions, with a proven delivery mindset
• Proven experience leading complex, organisation-wide programs, ideally in project, program, and portfolio management (P3M) transformation.
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to drive execution, manage dependencies, and deliver results.
• Hands-on experience with program governance, risk management, and performance reporting.
• Collaborative leader with a continuous improvement mindset and a focus on practical, people-centered solutions.

The office is located in Fortitude Valley, close to the train station and other transport links. The role offers WFH options 2/3 days per week.
