Project Engineer – Critical Power Systems

Full-Time | Location: Perth (Belmont Head Office)

High-Impact Projects | Power Generation, Energy Storage & Renewables

Salary: $120,000 – $145,000 + Super (Based on Experience)

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on, practical Project Engineer to join our tight-knit team delivering critical power projects across Australia. This is a great opportunity for someone who’s just as comfortable on site as they are in the office—an engineer who thrives on getting into the detail, solving problems, and making things happen.

You’ll be working on complex power systems with integrated technologies such as energy storage, renewables, rotating generation, and power system controls, including PLC and SCADA involvement.

Reporting to the Engineering and Design Manager, you’ll work closely with the design draftsman and the broader project delivery team to bring practical, buildable solutions to life. Our small, agile team relies on each person to take ownership of their work and contribute to our reputation for punching well above our weight.

This role is well suited to someone from a trade background with project experience or a technically-minded engineer who enjoys applying and sharing their knowledge in the field—not just writing specs or sitting in meetings.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret client and project requirements and develop fit-for-purpose technical solutions

Develop and review HV electrical designs, working closely with the design draftsman

Get hands-on with the equipment selection, integration, and installation process

Work with procurement and vendors to ensure materials and components meet specifications

Conduct or manage studies in short circuit analysis, earthing, and protection coordination

Support the controls team with PLC/SCADA interface requirements and integration

Liaise with site teams to ensure your designs are installable, maintainable, and efficient

Prepare project documentation including ITPs, SWMS, commissioning plans and handover packs

Take ownership of your scope—monitoring cost, schedule, and quality to ensure delivery

Embrace and contribute to the development of a systematic approach to project delivery

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

Relevant trade background with strong site/project experience and/or Advanced Diploma, Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical based Engineering

At least 3 years’ experience in engineering or project delivery, ideally in power or infrastructure

Solid understanding of power systems and practical engineering principles

Proven ability to work across the full project lifecycle, from concept to commissioning

Strong communication and coordination skills across teams, clients, and suppliers

Hands-on, pragmatic, and grounded — someone who can get the job done without over-engineering

Comfortable working on site and solving problems in real time

Team player with a strong sense of ownership and accountability

Willing to learn, adapt, and grow with a forward-thinking company

Desirable:

Experience with power generation, battery energy storage systems, and renewables

Understanding of PLC/SCADA systems and controls integration

Familiarity with switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and automation systems

Proficiency in engineering and drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks)

Knowledge of Australian standards and safety regulations

Why You’ll Love It Here

Be a key part of a close-knit, high-performing team where your work has real impact

Work on projects that matter — powering critical infrastructure and industrial operations

Diverse, hands-on exposure across engineering, installation, and commissioning

A practical work environment that values ownership, initiative, and real results

Competitive salary and benefits

20 days annual leave + public holidays

12 additional paid days off per year through our Employee Productivity Day initiative — one day off each month to recharge
