About the role
Our Psychological Health and Well Being Services Branch provides critical mental health and substance misuse healthcare to some of the most vulnerable and high-risk individuals in the State. Our multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, Aboriginal mental health workers, and prison support officers, work collaboratively to enhance patient outcomes and minimise harm.
Role of Occupational Therapists:
Occupational Therapists play a vital role within our Psychological Health and Well Being Services teams, conducting assessments, interventions, and discharge planning. They are integral to the following specialised units:
Casuarina Prison Alcohol and Other Drugs Rehabilitation Unit
Bandyup Women’s Prison Mental Health Unit
Bunbury Regional Prison Alcohol and Other Drugs Rehabilitation Unit (The successful applicant will be based in the metropolitan area, with occasional travel to Bunbury as required.)
These units strive to create a positive, recovery-oriented environment, supporting individuals as they prepare to reintegrate into the community and reducing the risk of re-incarceration.
The Bindi Bindi Mental Health Unit at Bandyup Women’s Prison includes a high dependency unit and a sub-acute unit for women, focusing on personalised, person-centred care plans tailored to each individual's needs.

Planning discharges
