As the UX Design Lead, you will:
• Play a leading role in managing and evolving the Queensland Government Design System, progressively adding to, unifying, and maintaining the components and patterns within the design system through best practice design and documentation.
• Design interactive components and patterns that Queenslanders intuitively understand and feel empowered by.
• Safeguard design system principles and standards and use your passion and willingness to inspire and coach others within a vibrant design and stakeholder community.
• Collaborate with other designers and developers to craft the leanest, most versatile and scalable set of components and patterns, delivering design assets and specifications to developers, and validating that design and code are synchronised.
• Follow UX best practices, meet standards (such as Apple HIG, Google Material Design, WCAG) and track the evolution of human computer interaction across technologies and emerging form factors, to ensure the design system meets changes in demand and enables opportunity.
• Optimise design operations, working within a cross functional team in agile delivery, including working with product managers, developers and testers to plan and deliver work.
• Support customer experience and product teams to advise them on usage and help them prototype solutions using the design system.
• Conduct/participate in primary research in the form of user research, user testing and customer interviews.
• Maintain project documentation, project boards, weekly and monthly reports, contribute to senior executive reports, group strategies and capability uplift requirements.
• The role reports to the Product Manager, Queensland Government Design System
