About the role

The Procurement Officer for our food manufacturing company plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely sourcing and procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and other supplies essential for our production operations. This role is responsible for managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and maintaining optimal inventory levels to support seamless production schedules.

What you'll be doing

1. Vendor Management:

Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers of raw materials, packaging materials, and services.

Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.

Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and disputes promptly.

2. Procurement Operations:

Coordinate with internal departments to determine procurement needs and specifications.

Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions.

Ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies to meet production schedules.

3. Inventory Control:

Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and transactions.

Implement inventory control measures to optimize stock levels and minimize costs.

Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.

4. Cost Management:

Analyse pricing and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Develop and implement strategies to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality or reliability.

5. Compliance and Documentation:

Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain proper documentation related to procurement activities, contracts, and vendor communications.

What we're looking for (essential)

• The ability to work effectively as a part of a team and the ability to lead, manage and motivate work teams

• Strong literacy and numeracy skills

• Excellent personal presentation

• Moderate computer skills

• Knowledge of ERP systems

• Strong understanding of HACCP principles and training requirements

• Strong understanding of WHS requirements

• Current First Aid certificate (or ability to obtain one)

• Forklift Licence

What we're looking for (desirable)

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or in a similar procurement role within the food manufacturing industry.

• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
