The Clinical Midwifery Consultant- Senior Midwifery Advisor (CMC SMA) is a senior contemporary midwife expert who works in a team to provide state-wide clinical support for complex obstetric retrievals, as well as developing and delivering evidence-based midwifery education across the State.
There are two components to this unique role; the SMA component will work as part of the RSQ team, including the RSQ Telehealth service, providing direct retrieval coordination, oversight of complex obstetric retrievals, support for clinicians, and review of obstetric cases. The CMC education component requires the translation of extensive midwifery experience into innovative education deliverables. The CMC SMA promotes midwifery models of care, while providing midwifery mentorship and collaboration to support colleagues across the State of Queensland to work to their scope of practice.
The CMC SMA also acts as a clinical resource, mentor and role model for RSQ staff by demonstrating a woman-centred approach. They create and provide maternity focused education and facilitate shared reflective practice via telehealth. The CMC SMA liaises with RSQ Clinical Coordinators, RSQ CNs, referring clinicians and obstetricians in the management of peripartum women requiring transfer, via multiple modalities, utilising escalation pathways to ensure optimal care.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dual Registered or direct entry Midwife. This role requires clinical expertise and leadership to support the development of Midwifery services, education and collaboration throughout Queensland, thereby improving health outcomes for mothers, babies and their families. The CMC SMA role works and collaborates as part of the broader RSQ team.
