About us:

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS) is offering an exciting and innovative opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) to work within the Community Specialist Palliative Care Service (CSPCS). This service encompasses Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast and Mt Morgan, Gladstone and Banana (based in Gladstone) and the Central Highlands (role based in Emerald). The service team comprises of a Staff Specialist Palliative Care, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Clinical Nurse, Social Worker, and Administration Officer and operates collaboratively with GP, Non-government organisations and across Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service CQHHS.

About the role:

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) in Community Specialist Palliative Care will provide high-level clinical leadership and manage staff to ensure evidence-based practice across the service. This role emphasizes innovation, research, and the delivery of specialist palliative nursing care.

Key Functions:

- Advanced Nursing Skills: Collaborate with community care providers and multidisciplinary teams for symptom management and care planning.

- Clinical Leadership: Support workforce development and best practice initiatives through education and mentoring.

- Negotiation & Advocacy: Utilize conflict management and change management skills to achieve performance goals.

- Partnership Development: Build relationships with organizations to enhance service delivery and planning.

- Data Analysis: Identify educational needs to improve service and professional standards.

- Quality Improvement: Engage with Palliative Care Outcome Collaboration (PCOC) for ongoing quality enhancement.

- Research Promotion: Foster a culture of evidence-based practice by facilitating research activities and adhering to governance standards.

About you:
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a current annual practising certificate.
  • Whilst not mandatory a relevant postgraduate Diploma or Masters' degree is an expectation of this position. Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance and development plan.
What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $82,105 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $66.85 – $72.85 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
