We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

  • Demonstrated capability to lead, manage and inspire a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team of communications professionals and achieve required organisational outcomes, whilst aligning to QAS core values as a leader with the highest levels of integrity, approachability, and strategic vision.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in contemporary, best practice and emerging corporate and internal and online communications strategies and trends and the proven ability to effectively manage a proactive communications portfolio within a complex, service-based organisation.
  • Demonstrated highly developed written and verbal communication expertise and exemplary interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to plan, develop, implement, and review corporate communications initiatives and programs to support organisational and government objectives within a geographically diverse public sector environment.
  • Superior conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with proven high level program management skills with an innovative and strategic approach to service delivery and a demonstrated commitment to excellent client service and continuous quality improvement.

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

  • The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and the possession of a C class driver's licence may be required.
  • The ability to travel intrastate by air is required.
  • Work outside of normal hours and on-call is required.
  • Whilst not mandatory, a tertiary qualification in the communications field or equivalent experience (e.g., Media liaison, journalism, public relations, marketing) and/or management will be highly regarded.
