We have multiple permanent full time and part time opportunities for Medical Record Officer at Next Step’s integrated services:
Thornlie (Full time); Joondalup (Full time), Mandurah and Midland - 1 day per week.
Next Step is the leading government drug and alcohol treatment service in Western Australia providing a range of clinical services. The treatment services provided by Next Step include:
- Outpatient services at East Perth and via integrated Community Alcohol and Drug Services at six metropolitan locations
- The Inpatient Withdrawal Unit at East Perth
- An onsite pharmacy service based at East Perth
- Outpatient and inpatient youth services via the Integrated Drug and Alcohol Youth Service.
- Community programs including the Community Pharmacotherapy Program and the Clinical Advisory Service.

About the Role
The Medical Records Officer maintains the client records system in accordance with the principles and standards of Government record keeping and the Drug and Alcohol Office policies and procedures. The role also maintains the appointment booking system and client registration and attendance records, whilst training other clerical staff within metropolitan integrated services in the use of the client information database and maintenance of the medical records system.
About You
We are seeking an experienced Medical Records Officer to join this highly specialised service that embraces a multidisciplinary approach to its care.
- You will have minimum 6 months clerical experience in a health service environment;
- Be an independent worker with an ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Have previous experience is using patient/ clinical information systems and databases;
- Demonstrate organisational and time management skills including the ability to organise and prioritise workloads to meet timeframes in a busy environment;
- You will be a collaborative team-worker with good interpersonal skills.

- The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications throughout this timeframe and will assess on a regular basis.
- Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool and appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur within any EMHS facility.
