EEAI Youth Engagement Officer

| Fitzroy Crossing | Full Time – 38 hours per week | $68,000 – $72,000 per annum |

Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation (MWWAC) is seeking a committed and culturally responsive EEAI Youth Engagement Officer to support Aboriginal children and young people in the Fitzroy Valley to engage or re-engage with education.

This role is part of the Education Engagement and Attainment Initiative (EEAI), funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, and plays a vital part in improving education outcomes for Aboriginal youth.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation was established in the late 1970s by the people of the Fitzroy Valley and is the largest and oldest Aboriginal resource agency in the Kimberley. We work with Bunuba, Gooniyandi, Wangkatjungka, Walmajarri and Nyikina groups to strengthen culture, support community and create sustainable employment solutions.

Our programs include Community Development, Economic Development, Housing Support, Youth Services, Financial Counselling, Disability and Aged Care.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your key responsibilities will include:

Engaging with young people facing challenges attending or participating in education

Providing short-term case management and supported referrals to appropriate services

Working closely with Fitzroy Valley District High School, community stakeholders and families to support consistent school attendance and education success.

Supporting the planning and delivery of activities aligned with education goals

Promoting inclusive and culturally safe education practices

Encouraging positive educational participation and celebrating student achievements

Maintaining accurate case notes and contributing to regular reporting

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Strong communication skills with students, families, and stakeholders

Understanding of Aboriginal culture and education challenges in remote communities

Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and independently

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to maintain accurate records

A current manual driver’s licence and willingness to travel

Desirable:

Certificate-level qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, or similar

Experience working with Aboriginal communities or in remote settings

Lived experience or strong cultural awareness of Fitzroy Valley communities

Pre-employment requirements:

Satisfactory National Police Clearance

WA Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
