Parramatta YCW (Young Christian Workers) is looking for an experienced and exceptional Support staff, namely a Youth Engagement Officer (YEO), on a part-time or full-time basis to join our team at Parramatta YCW who will be reporting directly to the Parramatta Youth Engagement Co-ordinator.

The YCW Australian movement has branches in Parramatta, Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne and we want to grow our Parramatta team!
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Engagement Officer in our Parramatta Team, working in a part-time that can be extended to a full-time capacity.
The role will involve the following activities but is not exhaustive and the role and its duties may change in accordance to the need of the role and its activities in line with the mission of the organisation:
- Supporting current and new initiatives led by young people by helping them to discover what are the main issues they are facing, to create and follow through their action plans, and to strengthen their life and work skills.
- Attending, facilitating and supporting different schools as part of Young Christian Students (YCS) to help young people run initiatives and actions with your support.
- Attending and supporting YCW groups and activities across Western Sydney
- Accounts and creating digital campaigns to raise awareness and engage young people in key issues impacting them.
- Representing the YCS and YCW in relevant networks and inter-agency meetings and conferences.
- Efficient group facilitation skills where you guide, encourage and engage group participants to carry out actions, and activities and review their efforts
- Comply with workplace policy, procedures and practices within Parramatta Young Christian Workers
- Developing yourself as a youth leader and Youth Engagement Officer
On a day-to-day basis, you will be supported by the YCW Parramatta Coordinator and participate in regular mentoring sessions with a local mentor. Training and ongoing learning is an important part of the role as we prioritise the development of our staff as role models for young people
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent youth and/or community work, community engagement/promotion or a relevant education or social sector disciplines
- Minimum of 1 years' experience in leadership roles working with young people
- Experience working with young people and community groups in a community, education or healthcare setting
- Passion for enabling youth voice and engagement
- Strong presentation, communication and group facilitation skills
- Full, clean driving license and access to a car.
- A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- A valid National Criminal History Check (NCC)
- A valid First Aid and CPR Certificate (or at least willingness to obtain on the success of obtaining employment)
DESIRABLES
- Experience in working collaboratively across multiple agencies and sectors
- Knowledge of theory and practice in youth participation and/or community engagement
- Experience in planning, implementing and evaluating projects, events, campaigns and actions
- Familiarity with local services for young people e.g. education, health, community and voluntary agencies
- Familiarity with Children's safety legislative frameworks
- Strong organisational, administrative and report-writing skills
- Ability to work in an independent and self-directed manner while also being part of a team
- Demonstrate evidence of computer skills including use of Google Suite, Microsoft Office, e-mail and social media.
In return, you will receive:
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Factors taken into account in determining an appropriate scale include the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, licenses and qualifications relevant to the job. The salary for this position will be based on the SCHADS Payscale. The salary range of this position is between Level 2 - pay point 1, $33.41, and Level 3 - pay point 2, $38.42.

As Young Christian Workers is a regional organisation, this role requires access to a car and the post will require travel for work and a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends, as required.
All Young Christian Workers staff and volunteers, members are required to obtain a valid Working with Children Check and a valid National Criminal History Check (NCC) as a condition of their initial and continued employment.
