This Sydney based company is entering an exciting growth phase enabled by their big-data and AI platform. You must live in Sydney and be able to work in the office a minimum of 4 days per week.

The Role:
Seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join the innovation and product development team working closely with the risk & investment management teams. Using large data sets to develop models and test their effectiveness.

Areas of Focus:

• Buy or sell side experience including portfolio risk; quantitative investment strategies; derivative pricing models including options / swaps; Development of optimal hedging solutions development considering interest rates and market volatility.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data driven asset & risk management solutions.
• Apply experience in using a variety of data mining & data analysis leveraging a range of data tools to build & implement data models and create algorithms and optimise of asset & risk management solutions.
• Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to structured and unstructured data sets.
• Predictive modelling for solutions optimisation.
• Develop testing frameworks to test model quality.

Your Skillset:

• 6+ years of quantitative analysis, ideally from buy-side.
• Tertiary qualifications in data science, math, physics, computer science or engineering. Masters or PHD in related field highly desirable.
• 5+ years expertise in data set manipulation and building statistical models within a product development environment using advanced statistical methods.
• Practical application of ML techniques including clustering, decision tree learning, random forest, boosting, artificial neural networks, forward feed neural net, Kohonen map, Kalman filter, support vector machines, association rules, text mining, social network analysis, global search optimizers, etc.
• Coding languages such as R, Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, C++, C#
• Big Data tools
• Data visualisation tools such as PowerBI or Tableau, etc.
• Proven strength in presentation skills - opportunity to present to clients with the ability to translate highly technical processes to non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-starter who thrives on innovation and be involved in robust discussions to stimulate creative approaches to solving client problems.
