As our Scientist (Biometry) you will be based in either Toowoomba or Dutton Park (EcoScience):
• Collaborate with researchers to develop and refine research questions to address the aims of their research projects.
• Design agricultural research experiments based on the statistical theory of experimental design, ensuring experimental designs enable the research question to be validly addressed, considering the logistical feasibility and optimal use of resources.
• Analyse data using statistics software packages such as Genstat, ASREML and R.
• Apply your knowledge of the principles of statistical inference to interpret and present research findings, assisting researchers with the interpretation and presentation of results including data visualisation, GIS mapping and presentations with platforms such as PowerBI.
• Use bioinformatics tools, methods, data analyses, data management and analysis platforms to support diverse research projects.
• Apply machine learning and predictive modelling to the analysis and modelling of larger and/or unstructured/complex datasets.
• Manipulate large datasets, interrogate data from multi-stage data pipelines and devise and maintain these pipelines.
• Provide training and support for clients in statistical, bioinformatics and/or computing methodologies.
• Consult on project plans and communicate research findings to industry.
• Build rapport to establish constructive, effective, and positive working relationships with people at all organisational levels.

Mandatory qualifications
• A Bachelor of Agricultural Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science or in a field relevant to the position (e.g. bioinformatics, statistics) from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent academic qualifications.
