We are seeking an experienced, outcomes-focused data visualisation specialist with strong project management skills to join our Science for Management section.

Responsible for supporting the Reef Authority’s work in relation to the use of science and data in Reef management, the position coordinates the delivery of the Reef Authority’s flagship Eye on the Reef Program and assists in delivering high quality outcomes for important initiatives such as the Reef 2050 Integrated Monitoring and Reporting Program (RIMReP). A key priority is to deliver, maintain and enhance the Reef Knowledge System an initiative of the Reef Authority designed to provide comprehensive information about the Great Barrier Reef's ecosystems that enables resilience-based management of the Reef, and provides managers with an understanding of how the Reef 2050 Long-term Sustainability Plan is progressing. It also contributes to other key programs of the Science for Management section.

You will work closely with Authority staff, management partners and stakeholders to scope, design and develop digital tools and products that contribute to understanding of the health and resilience of the Reef and the effectiveness of management actions. This includes providing high quality: project management; data visualisation services and technical advice; design and development of digital tools, systems and processes for data management, analysis and visualisation; preparation of information and reporting products; and contribution to communication and engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high level support and advice in relation to data visualisation and analysis to inform the development, stakeholder uptake, and continual improvement of digital tools, systems and processes for accessing and using science and management data.
• Design and develop appropriate, accessible and appealing visualisations and analysis tools (e.g. dashboards, reports, and interactive charts, maps and infographics) that help users analyse, interpret and communicate complex science and management datasets from a range of sources.
• Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to determine data management, analysis and visualisation requirements and prepare high quality digital and other information products.
• Provide high level project management for multiple projects, including by working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to lead or support project planning and implementation.
• Assist with the section’s planning, reporting and evaluation processes to support the Authority’s strategic objectives.
