About the Role
WorkPac is currently seeking a Senior Control System Engineer (FIFO) to join a Brisbane-based team on a permanent basis. The role includes FIFO travel to client sites, and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects across multiple sectors, providing expert engineering services in control systems and instrumentation.
This position plays a key role in project delivery, technical supervision, and stakeholder engagement while supporting the development of the broader engineering team. Work will take place from the head office, client offices, and onsite locations to provide full project lifecycle support including design, commissioning, and ongoing consultation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver discipline-specific engineering services for assigned projects
Ensure compliance with HSEQ policies and procedures
Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers
Coordinate with clients and internal teams to meet project outcomes
Participate in testing, commissioning, and site-based support
Produce instrumentation and control system designs
Contribute to proposals, equipment selection, and implementation planning
Maintain and grow relationships with clients, suppliers, and engineering peers
Uphold quality assurance through peer reviews and documentation
Take on project engineering responsibilities when required
Skills and Experience Required
Essential:
Proficiency in Allen-Bradley / Rockwell software (minimum 2–3 years experience)
Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience in a relevant discipline
Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation or similar)
Proven leadership and mentoring experience within engineering teams
Strong technical knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, and automation
Experience in site-based commissioning and supporting multidisciplinary teams
Desirable:
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status
Registered Professional Engineer of QLD (RPEQ)
Membership with Engineers Australia
Exposure to project management principles and cross-industry engineering
Familiarity with best practice design and documentation standards
