Job Description

Employment Role: Registered Psychologist (Graduate/Entry Level Accepted) – Assessments

Job Offering:

Either one person for up to 5 days a week

Or job sharing – two people for 2/3 days a week each

Welcome to Waterman Psychology Services!

Waterman Psychology Services is an educational psychology practice, whose sole focus is on psycho-educational and ADHD assessments, in both children and adults.

If you are passionate about assessment work and are keen on assessing children and adults to help them achieve the best possible outcomes when completing their studies or living their day to day lives, this job would be perfect for you!

The successful candidate will have completed their post-graduate qualifications and are a fully registered psychologist.

We are looking for a warm, friendly, and reliable team member to join our growing psychology practice. Ideally the candidate will be someone who is passionate about educational psychology and assessment work, working mainly with children, and occasionally with adults.

The assessments involve the following:

Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – 5th Edition (WISC-V)

Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – 3rd Edition (WIAT-III)

Conners Rating Scale 4th Edition

The Adaptive Behaviour Assessment System – 3rd Edition (ABAS-III)

Diagnosis of Learning Disorders, Intellectual Disability, ADHD, and more.

We are willing to train and assist psychologists with using the above tests listed. You do not need to have a lot of experience with each, but it is preferable that you know what each of these tests are and what they are used for. We will help you get started and will provide onsite and ongoing training in each of the above, as well as aid with interpretation of results and report writing.

We are also willing to include further testing materials for assessments such as ASD which we can liaise together to create a process that works best for both the company and for yourself.

Benefits of working with us:

We offer great working conditions. You will have a private office space, with a supportive team environment, onsite parking, and the ability to operate with the level of autonomy that suits you best. You will have full access to testing materials, iPads and a laptop which will all be funding through the business.

We organise regular supervision/debriefing sessions. You will have access to an experienced psychologist to build your clinical skills and provide opportunities to address client challenges. These supervision sessions will not only be for yourself but also for other psychologists to discuss their clients with you.

Work as an employee not a contractor. Our team members are employed, not contractors. While employee rates might seem lower at first glance, it's more useful to look at overall annual income—which can often be the same or even higher than some contractor setups, especially when you factor in time spent finding clients, doing admin, and managing your own bookings. As an employee, your tax is sorted for you, you get paid every fortnight (no need to invoice or wait for client payments), and you're entitled to super, workcover, parenting leave, and long service leave. Plus, we take care of admin and keeping your calendar full—so you can focus on doing the work you love!

You will have access to a professional development allowance. We will provide up to approximately $2000 each year to attend workshops and seminars. This can also be put toward new training (such as for ASD assessments or other).

Friendly and efficient administration support. Our much loved admin team take care of appointment bookings and reminders, rescheduling, payments, assessment setup and help with writing reports - and also fetch the occasional cup of coffee! We know that paperwork and admin can be tricky and we are committed to helping you feel organised and able to leave at the end of the day without worrying about it!

Providing work-life balance and reducing work stress is important to us! We want our team to have enough time to complete reports during work hours—no need to take work home or work unreasonable hours. Assessments are scheduled Monday to Thursday, with Fridays dedicated to report writing. We also like to keep Fridays a little lighter and more enjoyable with a casual dress day. If work ever starts to pile up or feel unmanageable, please let us know—we’re here to support you and find ways to manage the workload together.

There are opportunities to shape the services provided. We are always excited to introduce new assessments to our business and would love for you to be involved in the development of these services, including but not limited to ASD assessments. If there are other assessments you love to do, but we don’t currently offer them, let us know and we can work together to set these up and include them as part of our service list!

Love assessments and good company? You’ll fit right in! We are a small, close-knit team that’s excited to welcome someone new who’s passionate about assessments, enjoys a good chat, and loves working alongside like-minded psychologists and future psychologists. We are also excited to grow our team and continue expanding our thriving business!

Hours & Employment

Official employment and training period will start in May/June 2025.

We expect 2-4 assessments will be completed over 3-4 days a week. Initially starting with a workload that you are comfortable with and increasing over time.

We would be initially offering 2 days per week up to full-time (5 days) depending on your availability. You will receive the full-time equivalent annual salary plus super and holidays sick leave (whilst establishing client base in first three months), over time we expect we will increase salary following more productivity.

You must be a fully registered psychologist. If you are currently a provisional psychologist and are expected to become registered in the next 3 months, we will accept your application.

You must have a Working with Children’s Check and Police Clearance (or willing to obtain).

It is also desirable if you are a member of the APS.
