Role Purpose
The Electrical Engineering Technician is responsible for undertaking routine inspection, maintenance and testing on Fire Detection, Occupant Warning, Emergency Lighting, Portable Fire Equipment, Sprinkler, Deluge & Fire Pumps. The Electrical Engineering Technician will also take care of the FIP and Gaseous System services, Installation, Defects and repairs.
Installation of electrical systems associated with automatic fire detection and emergency lighting systems. Perform Minor works and Do & Charge works jobs. Carry out all works in accordance with relevant Australian Standards & Regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out do & charge jobs, (FST inspection and testing) jobs and minor works projects so as to achieve maximum returns and client satisfaction.
Take personal responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of works/ jobs and assist in the preparation of the weekly do & charge invoicing and FST paperwork as required.
Carry out installation works as required. This includes Drafting and Producing as Installed Drawings, plans and/or Diagrams, completing and signing off on all relevant legally required Documents, Appendixes, and Drawings under the installers Electrical Licence.
When required, Design the layout Fire Detection/warning and Electrical lighting systems and completing all relevant Drawings/sign offs including Electrical Installers Sign off under the individuals Electrical Contractors licence.
Installation and testing of Electrical cabling and association electrical switching apparatus including but not limited to Emergency lighting test switches and Fire Panels etc to the Main Switchboard/Distribution Board (Circuits) on premises and complete regulatory certification of the installation and commissioning/testing of such circuits.
Calculating Material and labour costings for associated projects within the regions employed.
Assist other regions for the above when required.
Inspecting Designs and finished systems for compliance with relevant Electrical and Australian Standards installation requirement and endorsement of such.
Routine maintenance of all Electrical fixed products.
Ensure all equipment issued is manufactured and presented to a satisfactory standard commensurate with the applicable standards and/or specification.
Take care of the FIP and Gaseous System services, Installation and Defects.
Electrical appliance and lead “testing and tagging” as per AS3760 and legislative requirements.
Supervise and manage apprentice Electricians. Assist with training and development.
Provide Managers with reports as requested.
Report to the Fixed Facilities Manager any matters that are likely to or are having a significant positive or negative effect on trading or the prospects of attaining budgetary goals.
Liaise with clients as required.
Monitor and observe the requirements of the company Quality Assurance policy bringing any issues of non-conformance to the attention of the Fixed Facilities Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned and handle multiple tasks, including administrative.
Provide information by answering questions and requests to internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Compliance with Management directives and attendant policies and procedures.
Efficient and effective utilisation of resources as allocated under the level of responsibility for this position.
Conduct all business transactions in an ethical, friendly, efficient, and professional manner.
Provision of quality customer service.

Other Duties as required by the company from time to time within the company dependent on relevant licencing requirements and company/site requirements to complete.
Must hold and maintain an electrical contractors licence at all times.

Construction White card
Mechanical/Electrical aptitude
Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards
Valid driver’s licence
