The Essential Services Commission (Commission) is looking for an analytically minded professional to join our Consumer Protection and Pricing group in the position of Policy Officer. If you are ethical, responsive, accountable, have an inquisitive nature and enjoy building inclusive relationships, this position may be for you.
About the role
Reporting to the Director, Policy the Policy Officer is responsible for providing insightful analysis, conducting in-depth research, and preparing strategic advice to inform evidence-based regulatory policy advice for the Commission.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in conducting research, preparing reports, analysing public policy problems and evaluating the effectiveness of a range of options to address problems using quantitative or qualitative methods. You will have the ability to interpret legislation and apply this to real policy solutions.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as public policy and administration, behavioural science, economics or law is desirable for this position.
About the Commission
The Commission adds long-term value to the South Australian community by meeting its objective through independent, ethical and expert regulatory decisions and advice. We are a statutory authority established as an independent economic regulator and advisory body to protect the long-term interests of South Australian consumers with respect to the price, quality and reliability of essential services.
Our role incorporates licensing, consumer protection, service standards, pricing, monitoring, compliance and public reporting in the water, electricity and gas industries, and access regulation of essential ports and rail infrastructure. We also provide advice and conduct Inquiries to inform the South Australian Government on economic and regulatory policy issues, and provide advice to local government.
