The Organisation

An actively growing global OEM who provides heavy and earthmoving equipment into the civil, mining and underground markets to name just a few. The business is in a phase of strong-growth, which has generated some exciting and brand-new positions with opportunities to match.

This ‘already-occurring’ expansion has led to the creation of a brand-new Business Development Manager position with a focus on hard rock mining & capital equipment covering the East Coast of Australia, PNG, NZ and some Pacific Islands.

The Position Overview & Objectives

The position's objective, high-level business development and channel development. Finding, developing and closing major deals on a direct to market basis. Heavy involvement with the development of major and exciting business opportunities. The position can be performed from any location on the east-coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne. Tasks covered include-

• Developing new and existing business opportunities for the companies range of heavy equipment which includes- Mining Trucks, Excavators, Tunnelling/Underground equipment, Crushing & Screening, Service & Support Packages.

• Leverage existing relationships to introduce other product divisions with the view to develop a ‘One-Stop-Shop’ solution for clients.

• Generate own leads and opportunities via cold calling, visiting remote mine sites and company head offices.

• Plan activities to obtain the ‘best-value’ in relation to generating returns on investments of time & money.

• Find, prepare, develop and progress quotes and tender documents and opportunities.

• Service leads and opportunities within East Coast (AU), NZ, PNG and some Pacific Islands.

• Attending online international meetings which sometimes occur afterhours.

• Full product training provided.

Candidate Requirements

• BDM experience within mining, underground, civil or similar markets selling mobile capital equipment. Greenfield Product sales & development highly regarded.

• Key relationships and contacts within mining markets, ideally with Asset, Maintenance or Operations Mangers.

• Experience with tender submissions and the sales/negotiation process.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and the ability to cold-call and generate leads - Essential. You won't be spoon-fed opportunities, nor will you be micro-managed, hence the importance of this point.

• A team-player who engages and understands how critical regular team communication is ESSENTIAL.

• The ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (must have passport or ability to obtain).

• Up to date computer and CRM skills, SAP experience highly regarded.

• Must have a depth of understanding in relation to the sales-process, also machinery-life-cycles - Essential.

Remuneration Package on Offer

In relation to remuneration, a starting salary of $130,000 - $150,000 per year, super, plus a target driven Sales Incentive/Bonus, company 4WD vehicle and tools-of-trade - fuel card, laptop, phone etc.
