The Shire of Kojonup is now recruiting a Technical Officer to join the Works and Infrastructure team on a full-time basis. The key responsibilities of this role are to

Adhere to Council policies and procedures when completing assigned tasks

Assist with project scoping, evaluations, cost construction estimates of Council roads, drains, bridges, footpaths and cycle ways

Assist in the preparation and update of road funding applications, budget estimates, works schedules and asset management plans

Maintenance and capture of traffic data

Preparation of clearing permits, Before you Dig, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, Traffic Management Plans and other documentation

Preparation of WHS documentation

Assessment of School Bus Stop requests and Restricted Access Vehicle route assessment and documentation

Assist with Contract Administration documentation and Contractor Management induction and compliance

Assist with updating and developing Works and Plant Replacement Programs (annually)

Compliance with the Shire’s Risk Management practices

Essential criteria

Experience with civil design and road construction

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent written skills – procurement, report writing and funding applications

Excellent IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Knowledge of road design construction and maintenance techniques

Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks

Strict adherence to Work Health and Safety policies and procedures

Desirable criteria

Experience with interpreting design plans and implementing road construction plans

Experience with Metrocount, RAMM, SLIP, GIS programs

Exposure to Austroad/ MRWA Specifications, quality control and contractor management

Either Cert III or Cert IV in Civil Construction

Basic Worksite Traffic Management

Other relevant qualifications and licences for plant equipment operation

Qualifications and/or training

C class drivers licence

HR drivers licence (desirable)

WHS White/Blue card

First Aid Certificate (or ability to complete)

Employment offer

This role will be offered on a contracted basis between 3 and 5 years based on performance. The remuneration component of this position will range between $75,000.00 and $85,000.00 per annum plus superannuation, with the final offer being dependent on the successful applicant’s level of experience and qualifications. Benefits include negotiated private use of a vehicle and subsidised housing.
