Enerflex are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join the team based in Eagle Farm. The role will provides leadership, technical authority and oversight covering all aspects of electrical and instrumentation engineering including all phases from design through to commissioning support and supervision in relation to engineering services for electrical and instrumentation system installations relating to Gas Compression, Gas Processing and Power Generation projects.

About the role

Full control and responsibility for delivery of scope for projects (Oil &Gas / Power Generation) including all aspects of electrical and controls engineering, procurement and delivery of subcontracted supply items (which may include engineering), planning and development of field installation and testing/commissioning documentation.

Lead the Project Engineering and Design activities associated with Microgrids (MG), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Grid Automation (GA).

Working with Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Area in accordance with AS/NZS 60079 series

Knowledge and exposure to PLC, SCADA and network systems. Experience with ComAp, the Allen Bradley suite, as well as experience with interfacing to instrument and control systems using a variety of communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP and ControlNet.

Experience in Functional Safety including Safety Integrity Level (SIL) allocation and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) knowledge.

Working knowledge of Gas fired appliances (Type B – AS3814 Industrial and commercial gas-fired appliances).

Ability to perform commissioning activities on electrical, instrumentation and control related installations on Gas Process and Power Generation projects.

Lead the technical development of Electrical and Controls Engineering through project phases, including pre-contract phases and conceptual engineering.

Ensure Enerflex’s Quality Standards are maintained.

Lead the development of Enerflex project templates and core systems to support projects.

Preparation of documentation for standards, procedures, safe working practices and monitoring regimes in respect of work.

Provide discipline engineering approval for project documentation.

Support the development of work packs linked to the execution of works

Provide leadership and act as technical authority in all aspects of Electrical and Instrumentation engineering to ensure project work complies with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Act as primary technical interface with clients and be able to confidently discuss technical aspects of the project.

Leadership, technical oversight and participation in development of engineering documentation required for detailed engineering activities through to construction and commissioning.

Providing planning and scheduling inputs to project controller.

Preparation of Lessons Learnt documentation.

About you

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications.

Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or ability to register.

Significant industry experience in engineering, project implementation and commissioning within the Oil & Gas, Power Generation or Mining industries.

Experience in a senior or lead role in a formal project delivery environment

Extensive knowledge and understanding of Australian Standards pertaining to Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering.

High level of technical aptitude in electrical engineering and industrial software technologies specific to electrical protection and control systems.

Proven ability to influence project outcomes and resolve technical problems through technical innovation and utilising advanced teamwork, communication and inter-personal skills

Delivery experience of Oil &Gas / Power Generation projects, from design and procurement, through to construction and commissioning.

Ability and willingness to actively develop an understanding of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and renewable technologies (including control systems).

Experience in High Voltage (HV) Power Generation from reciprocating engines or turbines.
