Who We Are

Since 1985 Centenary has undertaken research from investigating molecular mechanisms of disease at the single cell level to translational disease models in complex organisms and to clinical trials.
Our research centres at Centenary currently focus on Biomedical AI, Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, Inflammation, Age Related, Rare and Infectious diseases.

The Role

Working alongside the Executive Director, you'll be instrumental in realising the Institute's strategic vision, with a particular focus on empowering our people to excel. As an active and internationally acclaimed female researcher, you'll bring your proven expertise to both contribute to and spearhead our commitment to research excellence.

Located in the heart of the Tech Central Precinct at Camperdown, between our affiliated partners, the University of Sydney and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and within a short distance of the University of Technology, this position also offers the possibility of a co-appointment/affiliation with our partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Research Leadership

• Assist in aligning research programs with the Institute's strategic vision.
• Lead the implementation of our research strategy and ensure long-term sustainability.
• Identify and cultivate strategic collaborations with internal and external partners.
• Maximise research performance and build the capacity of our research staff.

Research Excellence

• Maintain an internationally competitive research program within your own laboratory.
• Drive innovative research projects with potential for translational outcomes.
• Foster a collaborative research culture across the Institute.

Cultural Leadership

• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Institute and beyond.
• Promote and embody the Institute's core values.
• Cultivate a positive and supportive work environment.
• Deputise for the Executive Director.
• Contribute to institute working groups and committees.

About You:

• A Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in medical research.
• Demonstrated capacity to fulfill the criteria for appointment at Associate Professor (Level D) or Professor (Level E).
• A strong history of acquiring grant funding.
• A strong publication record in key peer reviewed journals.
• Recognised leadership within the research community.
• Demonstrated excellence in research, research policy and research training.
