We are looking for compassionate Disability Support Workers to join our casual team supporting clients in the Rockingham area and surrounds.

About the role

The purpose of the Disability Support Worker is to empower participants by providing individualised, respectful, and empathetic support that enhances their ability to live independently and achieve personal goals. As a Disability Support Worker with us, your responsibilities will include:

Provide comprehensive, personalised support for daily living activities including hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility, tailored to the specific needs of each participant.

Facilitate and encourage participation in physical and therapeutic activities designed to promote mobility and overall health, according to individual care plans.

Administer medications and manage healthcare appointments, ensuring adherence to prescribed treatments and healthcare protocols.

Support participants' mobility with transportation assistance to appointments, community events, and other activities.

Encourage and support participants in articulating their personal interests, preferences, and goals, facilitating greater personalisation of support services.

Facilitate and enhance social interactions and community engagement, helping participants build and maintain meaningful relationships within the community.

Document all care activities, participant progress, and any significant changes in health or behaviour, maintaining detailed and accurate records.

Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to participant care.

Ensure all documentation and administrative tasks are completed in compliance with organisational standards and NDIS regulatory requirements.

Regularly review and update participant care plans in collaboration with participants, their families, and other stakeholders, ensuring plans remain relevant and effective.

Requirements

Manual handling experience is a must.

Tertiary qualifications in social work, disability, mental health, psychology, allied health, community services or another relevant field.

Current driver’s licence and ability to drive a 12-seater vehicle.

Valid and current National Police Check, Working with Children Check (WWCC) and current First Aid/CPR certification.

NDIS Worker Screening Check & completed Orientation Module.

Demonstrated experience in the disability sector, either working as a support worker or other allied health profession OR lived experience of navigating the NDIS/disability services system.

Experience in working with clients who have complex and challenging support needs.

Working knowledge of the NDIS and related legislation with excellent communication to understand and advocate for clients and their families.

Proven ability to form trusting relationships with participants and their families, community service providers, and other professionals in the disability services sector.
