About the Role

The Community Project Officer is responsible for assisting and supporting members of the local community. The role includes assisting the coordinator to develop and implement events and activities at the Centre as well as providing information, advice and referral options to community members who attend and connect with Elorac Place.

Key Role Accountabilities:

Align one’s workplace behaviour in accordance with the WMQ Model of Care, the Wesley Charter and Wesley Mission Queensland’s Vision, Mission and Values.

Support and assist community members to access information, support and referral options in response to their presenting needs.

Create and facilitate the delivery of projects that support the wellbeing of residents of Eagleby and surrounding suburbs.

Assist the Coordinator with the planning and implementation of events within the local community.

Facilitate and build effective and positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders

Complete administration requirements of the role including but not limited to data recording, KPIs, group & activity development and report writing

Work as part of a team and the wider WMQ community.

Actively participate and contribute to reporting requirements where required.

Other associated duties as directed.

Manual handling is an inherent physical requirement of working in this role. The position may require significant periods of standing, sustained hours of movement including lifting, bending, squatting, pushing, carrying, stretching, and tidying centres and spaces, and use of computers and office equipment.

About You

Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Human Services or related discipline and/or relevant years of experience.

Demonstrated experience working with families and individuals at risk within the principles of social justice.

A thorough understanding of issues affecting members of the local community.

Demonstrated experience at leading community-based initiatives with a variety of individuals and communities.

Proven experience of engaging and assisting families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Demonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with colleagues, services providers, families and community members.

Highly effective time management skills with demonstrated capacity to support action planning and implementation within time frames.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive team member.

Advanced computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, electronic recording systems and data management tools.

Ability and willingness to work within the Philosophy, Policies and Procedures of Wesley Mission Queensland and The Uniting Church in Australia.
