Local Learning Network – Night School Program Officer
Location: The Neighbourhood Hive & Hervey Bay Community Centre
Employment Type: Part-time (15 hours per week)
Working Hours: 12pm–8pm (after-hours work is a core part of this role)
Award Classification: SACS Award Level 3
Reports to: Operations Manager
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting new position created in direct response to community feedback – and it’s all about meeting people where they are, at the times that work for them.
We’re looking for an energetic and community-minded Program Officer to lead the delivery of after-hours workshops and events through the Local Learning Network (LLN) initiative.
Working from 12pm to 8pm, two days per week, you’ll be the driving force behind engaging, short-form workshops and learning sessions across Neighbourhood Collective sites. These events are designed to increase social connection, develop local skills, and open up pathways to employment and community participation – especially for those who can’t attend during typical business hours.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinating and facilitating evening workshops and events
Recruiting and supporting local volunteer educators
Building partnerships with local businesses, community groups, and organisations
Managing workshop logistics, including bookings, catering, set-up and pack-down
Promoting events via social media, website and printed materials
Gathering community feedback and evaluating program outcomes
ABOUT YOU
You’re someone who understands the value of accessible, inclusive community learning – and you're excited to work outside the 9–5 to make it happen.
With a background in events, education, training or community development, you’re confident in coordinating activities, building relationships, and supporting volunteers. You're also tech-savvy and comfortable creating simple promotional content.
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
Experience in community workshops, training, or events management
Strong administration and digital communication skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Experience with volunteer recruitment and support
A knack for writing engaging content for flyers and social media
A passion for inclusivity, connection, and community-driven learning
Excellent time management and teamwork skills
A current C Class Driver’s Licence
Availability from 12pm–8pm is essential, as this is when your impact will be made.
