About the role
As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will play a critical role in bringing Council’s Cyber Security Strategy to life by designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to safeguard our organisation’s digital systems and networks. You will work closely with the Digital Infrastructure and Security Team Leader and Chief Information Officer, leveraging your deep understanding of cyber security principles and hands-on experience with various security technologies to mitigate risks and protect our organisation.
Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience as a Cyber Security Specialist or similar role.
Strong knowledge of system and desktop security technologies and tools
Significant experience in the ACSC’s Essential Eight framework.
Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 27001, NIST).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Criteria
Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISM) are a plus.
Practical experience with security technologies or similar.
Knowledge of scripting and automation tools.
Knowledge and experience in Australian local government.
