This is a Term Time role. Monday to Friday 8AM - 4PM.

Purpose of Position: As a Student Engagement Officer at Ohana College, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and managing student engagement and wellbeing within individual classes. This includes implementing trauma-informed care strategies, facilitating Social-Emotional Learning programs, and conducting mindfulness activities. You will collaborate closely with the Wellbeing Team and teachers to implement positive intervention strategies and support plans, ensuring a safe and engaging classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement trauma-informed care strategies focusing on positive relationships, safety, and emotional regulation.
• Support the Wellbeing Team and teachers in managing classroom dynamics and student behaviour.
• Manage student attendance and implement attendance support plans.
• Conduct reset, re-engage, and protective interruption strategies as needed.
• Facilitate group activities and SEL programs during break times.
• Provide individual learning support for students with identified barriers.
• Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and community stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate and timely case notes.
• Provide additional staffing support during camps or school excursions.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Degree or diploma in a relevant field.
• Understanding of issues facing at-risk young people.
• Knowledge of mandatory reporting requirements in an educational setting.
• Experience engaging young people in dynamic learning environments.
• Experience working with at-risk youth and knowledge of youth services in Brisbane.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
• Paid Working with Children Blue Card and QLD Driver's License.
