About The Role:

The role of Horticultural Specialist is responsible for implementing advanced horticultural practices, including pest and disease management, custom soil media formulation, irrigation optimisation, and plant nutrition programs, with strict attention to all protocols and company standards.

Plant Care & Maintenance

Oversee the care and maintenance of plants and garden areas, including routine watering and weeding procedures.

Implement advanced pruning, thinning, and training techniques to promote optimal plant growth, health, and overall vitality.

Conduct detailed assessments of plant health, identifying symptoms of nutrient deficiencies, disease, and environmental stressors.

Ongoing Irregation & Pest Management

Identify pest infestations, disease outbreaks, and physiological disorders, implementing appropriate remedial measures.

Develop and implement an integrated pest management (IPM) plan, incorporating biological, cultural, mechanical, and chemical controls.

Monitor and rotate pesticide applications in compliance with industry best practices and environmental regulations.

Manage the calibration, preparation, and application of pesticides and herbicides, ensuring safe and effective use.

Soil & Crop Analysis

Identify pest infestations, disease outbreaks, and physiological disorders, implementing appropriate remedial measures.

Develop and implement an integrated pest management (IPM) plan, incorporating biological, cultural, mechanical, and chemical controls.

Monitor and rotate pesticide applications in compliance with industry best practices and environmental regulations.

Manage the calibration, preparation, and application of pesticides and herbicides, ensuring safe and effective use.

Management, Compliance & Projects

Oversee the training and mentoring of junior horticulture staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and operational protocols.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations, biosecurity measures, and environmental protection guidelines.

Collaborate with research institutions and industry bodies to stay updated on emerging horticultural advancements and innovations.

Work closely with the Head Grower on research and development projects

Collaborate with chemical companies and suppliers to source and trial plant protection products, fertilisers, and growth enhancers

Develop and implement water conservation strategies, including rainwater harvesting, efficient irrigation techniques, and drought-resistant plant selection.

About You:

Relevant qualifications in Horticulture:

Cert IV in Horticulture; OR

Cert III plus minimum of two years applicable experience; OR

Minimum of three years of experience in same or similar role

High physical fitness, with the ability to lift, bend, stretch, and stand for prolonged periods in various weather conditions.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.

Current Queensland ‘C’ class driver’s licence or ability to obtain
