THE POSITION:
The Manager Finance is a key senior finance position, reporting directly to the Executive Director & CFO. The Manager Finance will deliver strategy and services through effective leadership and management of the finance team, including:
- Financial & Accounting Services and Systems
- Rates & Receivable Management. (Core Revenue Management)
- Accounts Payable
- Treasury and Investment Management
A key focus of the position will be to review financial accounting practices, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, achieve standards of excellence, support the changing needs of the business and its clients, as well as to develop and implement a strategy to position the finance team as an effective business service partner.
ABOUT YOU:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualification in Finance/Accounting or equivalent and Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
- Demonstrated financial management experience (5-10 years) in a senior finance role in the public sector or a medium to large sized business.
- Substantial achievement in managing a financial services team to provide responsive customer service, to continuously improve cost efficiency, systems and processes, to effectively manage cashflow, and to deliver services within budget.
- A proven track record in leading and managing people to optimise productivity and create an attractive, safe, equitable and rewarding workplace.
- A demonstrated understanding and exposure to established financial accounting methodologies, industry best practice, statutory and legislative requirements, financial management systems required to support the operations of a medium to large service organisation, and a proven ability to interpret and apply applicable accounting standards.
- Demonstrated advanced Computer literacy including ERP systems, spreadsheet and database skills.
- Knowledge of accounting standards, taxation and related legislation relevant to local government.
- Practical experience in liaising with external auditors as primary client contact to address information requirements in order to achieve an unqualified audit opinion.
- Experience in developing and implementing work practice procedures that comply with WH&S and EEO requirements.
- Demonstrated successful change management and continuous improvement experience.
- Accomplished interpersonal ability demonstrated in consistently achieving, facilitating and negotiating positive outcomes and support with a diverse range of stakeholders with different (and sometimes competing) needs and priorities.
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight
- This position is a Grade 10, salary range is $133,979 p.a. with progression to $147,889 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $156,940 p.a. plus superannuation
- A motor vehicle benefit is available
