HCD Service Designer – Financial Crime Transformation12-Month Contract | Multi Year Transformation Program | Sydney Hybrid

We’re hiring a Human-Centred Design (HCD) / UX Designer to support a major, multi-year transformation program focused on financial crime operations.

This is a hands-on, user-focused role working across process redesign, interface prototyping, and service improvement. You’ll be embedded in a cross-functional team driving change across 56 legacy systems, with a focus on simplifying the experience for both customers and frontline staff.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Evaluate current state user experience across financial crime processes (KYC, sanctions, alerts, case management)
  
  
• Create personas, journey maps, and prototypes
  
  
• Identify user pain points and help define what "good" looks like
  
  
• Support early-stage interface design thinking – single unified UI across tools
  
  
• Use design insights to inform build vs buy decision
  
  
• Collaborate with ops, tech, product, and change leads to shape future workflows
  
  
• Apply lean UX methods and help challenge outdated ways of working (think: Excel macros, PDFs, manual alerts)
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years in UX, service design or human-centred design roles
  
  
• Strong skills in journey mapping, user research, prototyping, and testing
  
  
• Able to bring structure and clarity to messy, complex environments
  
  
• Comfortable working with process maps, ops SMEs and change teams
  
  
• Experience in regulated or complex industries (finance, health, gov, etc.)
  
  
• Bonus: familiarity with case management tools, automation, or Gen AI
