This role is responsible for evaluating development applications and providing planning advice to stakeholders, while reporting to the Team Leader Development Planning

Duties

• Review and process planning applications, ensuring they meet legal and policy requirements.
• Offer expert guidance to the public, developers, and internal teams on planning regulations and processes.
• Apply relevant planning laws, codes, and Council policies in all assessments.
• Prepare reports, respond to inquiries, and liaise with stakeholders, maintaining clear and timely communication.

Skills & experience

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in development planning or a related field, preferably within local government.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and the Local Government Act.
• Demonstrated ability to assess and interpret development applications and related documentation.
• Sound understanding of rural and urban land use planning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
