DEWR provides a Secure Internet Gateway service to the department and several Federal government agencies. We are seeking an experienced Senior Gateway or Network Security engineer to contribute to the operations and management of the environment.

The Secure Gateway Services section sits within the Security Operations Branch. The branch plays a critical role in the provision and operations of the department’s cyber security infrastructure and incident response capability. Our mission is to provide the services that enable the Department to deliver its business outcomes securely in an appropriately risk managed environment.

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Secure Gateway Services, the Senior Gateway / Network Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring the departments Internet Gateway environment is secure, reliable, and maintained in accordance with relevant government regulations and industry practices. While the Senior Gateway Engineer is a highly technical position, it will require regular engagement with senior management to explain complex technical issues, in addition to the mentoring of junior staff.

The roles may require on-call on a rotating roster, and occasional after-hours overtime work may be required with overtime provisions available.

About you

We are seeking individuals with more than 5 years’ experience in network or network security technologies with a passion for innovation and service delivery. Candidates will be expected work autonomously to solve complex IT problems, as well as work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to achieve the objectives of the Secure Gateway Services section.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, stakeholder engagement experience and will have the opportunity to demonstrate their subject matter expertise in highly capable teams.

The successful individuals will also possess capabilities, as follows:

• Demonstrated technical experience in an enterprise networking environment, preferably a government or commercial Secure Internet Gateway provider.
• Demonstrated experience in configuring several of the following: Sky High Proxy, Bluecoat Proxy SG, Cisco ESA/SMA, F5 BigIP, Fortigate firewalls, FortiSandbox, Infoblox DNS and Cisco Routers, Switches and Firewalls.
• Experience with RedHat Linux, Microsoft Windows, cloud networking
